Laughing Dog Growing

Great news for the brewers in Ponderay: Laughing Dog is EXPANDING!  After opening its doors in 2005, the award-winning brewery distributes to over 10 states on both coasts.  Starting in January, it will grow its capacity from 4,500 barrels to 6,300 barrels per year as it moves into an old K-Mart building where there is plenty room for even further expansion.

Co-owner Fred Colby said of Laughing Dog’s culture

“I never want the brewery to go beyond the point where we’re not hand crafting beer any more,” he said. “The day we have to put in a 100 barrel brew house, I no longer want anything to do with it, simply because it’s not a hand-crafted product any more. When you get that big, it’s all automated and you’re just pushing buttons. I like the fact that we still do things by hand here.”

Way to go, LD!  Prost to your spirit, passion, craftsmanship and success! *gulp*
